Places of Putney
Finishing off what I started… here are a few remaining sketches from my brief time in Putney.
In addition to the month-long workshop with Mr Ingbretson, I’d take whatever opportunities there were in the mornings/evenings to do some plein air. As always, it was a great way to bond with a new place and meet people.
To save energy for the long days I’d whip around using the Lime e-bikes, canvas in the basket, cruising to painting spots. I grew to love them, and they allowed me more painting time than I’d have gotten by walking.
As a final parting goodbye, I made a quick sketch of one such bike on my final day (see right). It’s actually my favourite painting of the whole trip, perhaps more for the memories than the execution.
I frequently returned to Putney bridge at night. It’s beautifully lit and a real show as the tide moves the light. It’s a treat that I haven’t seen on other bridges in London. Here are two sketches, near and far, of the bridge in twilight.
And finally, a few random pieces from the trip.
That about wraps up Putney - enjoy!
